Plastic part design evaluation
Injection molding technology is used to produce various products shape of which is very often very complex. The components need to be assembled into larger assemblies and that’s why they need to have a lot of openings, clips, ribs and other features. To allow the best possible function but still keep the feasibility to produce the product by injection molding technology, the part needs to comply to many requirements (demolding directions, demolding strokes, demolding/draft angles, surface finishing etc).
In case the part design is not optimized for the technology, it can cause that the tool will be much more complex than it could be, more expensive than it could be and what is very often the most important for the molders, the maintenance of the tool is getting too expensive, too complicated and too often needed. To minimize the risks, the expertise is needed to optimize the plastic part design.
